Sound (terms)

Diegetic Sound - The term 'diegetic' means the actual sound that is created when recording a scene, a sound that is presented by the actor/actresses voices (dialogue) a sound created by an object/prop in the film and music that is being played in the background by an instrument.

Non-Diegetic Sound- The term 'non-diegetic is the opposite to diegetic it is classed as commentary sound, it is a sound that is placed when editing the film, and is a source of sound that is unseen in the recording. A few sources of sound that come under the term non-diegetic would be: A commentator/narrator and sound effects that have been edited into the film,
