Journey of our Thriller Opening.

Journey of our Thriller Opening.

Wednesday 15th January 2014 -  Today was the day we began to film our opening. After ensuring that we had completed all of our planning and risk assessments, we made our way to the Robert Clack lower school study room to film our first scene "The Psychiatrist Scene" which is where we meet Jordan who plays the character 'Lance Filmore'. We started off filming Jordan entering the Psychiatrist building. Whilst filming Jordan coming up the stairs approaching the door we had nine different clips (although, we only used three) as we took a while to get the correct angle pointing down the stairs and coming up the stairs. After we finished recording Jordan coming up the stairs, we attempted to film him coming into the room, which is where I come in to greet him. I am acting as Hassan's (Mr. Khan the psychiatrist) assistant. So it was my job to greet his patients and send them into him. Whilst recording me greeting the patient, we created 8 different clips on this day to try and get it right. After these 8 clips, we were still unable to finish the scene perfectly, at this point our recording time was finished. So we would have to carry on recording this scene next lesson.

Friday 17th January - Today one of the main characters in our film (Jordan who plays Lance Filmore) was absent, which meant we was unable to film today. So instead of filming, our group decided to upload what we already filmed onto 'Final Cut Express' and stitch the clips together. As well as updating our blogger, to show our recent progress throughout our film, lessons and knowledge on thrillers.

Wednesday 22nd January 2014 - Today, we went straight into filming (after setting up the study room). We started are filming from where we finished off on Wednesday 15th January. So we started to   record the part where I was welcoming the patient "Lance Filmore (Jordan)" and sending him into the psychiatrist. As well as making 8 clips of this in the previous filming lesson, we also had to create three more until we cut the scene perfectly. After we recorded this part, we then moved onto recording the patient meeting with the doctor, and explaining his worries about his "visions". Altogether filming this scene we filmed 14 different clips, 11 of the patient entering and 3 from a different angle of the doctor explaining what he is going to do. We managed to finish filming this specific scene just before our filming lesson ended. So next lesson we are planning on filming a different scene.

Friday 24th January 2014 - Today, we decided that I was going to upload the film to final cut express and begin to stitch our clips together whilst the other three were recording the 'Park Scene'. We decided this because I was not required to be in the film today, and they didn't need any help filming. So to stop us from getting behind, I decided to put the film together so we had less to do which gave us more time to improve on our rough cut once we had completed the film.

Welcoming post

Sophie Hawkins AS Media Blog - Robert Clack.

Hello, and welcome to my media blog. Throughout this blog I will be portraying what I have learned during my lesson, my progress during my lessons and sources of clips and films I have created.

My main task in my media lessons is to build myself up to make a movie opening for a thriller. To build myself up to this, I will be looking into thriller films throughout my lessons and post it in my blog to portray my understanding, I will also be learning about Camera, Sound and Lighting techniques that will make a thriller more effective, which I will portray by uploading short clips of examples I have created.
